FINALLY! Finally is the one of MANY words that come to mind when thinking of our much anticipated home remodel! JUST FINALLY!
For 7 years my husband and I lived in the house and made it a home. When I first arrived to this house, the living room looked like a collection of sidewalk furniture and end tables collected from local dumpsters. I thought we would have to get one of the top design build firms to put it right! My husbands nicest appliance was his KEG-erator located strategically in the man cave (garage) and his nicest piece of furniture was a step stool. He had a bamboo plant growing in a red solo cup sitting on a Christmas themed end table in the middle of the living room….IN JUNE! There were variants of lace doilies that were make-shifted into wannabe curtains and flooring that would make a grown man cry. OY!
Over time we invested into NEW EVERYTHING…did minor renovations and gave the house some much needed love! Investments included a cordless vacuum, like this one right here, to keep our house looking like a home. We made it a home and created memories that I will hold near and dear to my heart for forever. We started our love story, made a family, got married, bought a dog and brought our babies home to this house. It has been our everything for a while….but our everything is QUICKLY being outgrown. For the past year we have been working behind the scenes on plans to FINALLY invest into our home by not only BUYING it…but turning it into our dream home. There are so many things you have to think about during a home remodel that we had never thought about before. For example, it was very important to us that we used a general contractor that we could trust to do a good job. Home improvements are always exciting but they take a lot of work to get right.
This past week we took a final photo in front of our small, humble, bamboo plant beginnings with our prides of joy (Nick, Ryan and Ellie pup). Over the next 8 months things will start to look mighty different around here. We are turning our 2 bedroom, 1 bath 800 sqft home into a 5 bedroom, 1 office, 3 1/2 full bath 3000+ sqft “Manor by the Sea”. (#hebertmanor) We can no wait for the space. We cant wait to grow INTO our house. Host parties. Dinners. Family. Friends. WORKSHOPS! Oh the dreams are just endless.
It might sound a little bit strange, but I am probably most excited about having an office to myself! It will be the perfect place to run my business empire. I have always wanted a home office to call my own so that I can fill it with all my trinkets, a comfortable office chair, and a big desk. In fact, I have already started browsing websites that sell business office supplies for some inspiration! Watch this space…
If you follow me on Facebook, you see now how things are starting to change already….and if you are interested in seeing MORE of behind the scenes, be sure to follow me here over the next 8 months of progress:
