This has been NOTHING like those TLC shows. There aren’t cute coffee meetings at Magnolia Farms to view a 3D vision of my home. There aren’t huge billboards that are pulled apart to reveal an end product. There isn’t a Disney vacation while a whole home is built in a week. It a hot mess! An exhausting, busy, dirty, hot mess!
If you have been following our progress, you have seen by now that our renovation has REALLY become a REBUILD! We winded up knocking down the whole house (yes, after we lifted it!) and started over. THEN on top of that, we decided to add about another 800 sq feet onto our already 2200 sqft addition we had in mind! Yes, this house will be a MONSTER! However, before we get started with building the rooms, one of our friends recommended that we consider getting the foundations checked. She recommended this Centex foundation repair website here. She said she used them and she was thoroughly impressed. To build anything, you have to start with foundations so it makes sense to get them checked first.
We wanted a home MADE for entertaining. For us, welcoming our whole family into our home, visits from friends all over…hosting holidays, etc; it’s our dream. We needed the space to host in-home Talk/Workshops for my business and give me the freedom to put into action a business idea I haven’t shared with anyone, and am itching to start planning for. It’s all just a big old dream…that weirdly enough, is slowly coming true, the house hasn’t even properly been erected yet and I’ve already got the smaller products and furnishings like Window Coverings and flooring options narrowed down ready for when we start to design our home! Our once 800 sqft home for 4 with one bathroom will now be the 5 bedrooms, 1 office, 4 bathrooms, now 1 huge game room/den home it was meant to be. God had a plan all along for us! It now just comes down to continued faith and even more patience!
So, for your bi-weekly update, here we go!
And as of a few days…..here we stand! We have one more roofline and room to create (the den) on top of the garage area to the right. So there will be about 3-4 different roof lines going on all said and done!!! yay!!!
Lots of work is being done inside by our HVAC guys, electricians, and plumbers! We are following the advice of Green Horizon One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning regarding the best HVAC brand to use. Next week, we are sharing room design boards and teaching you how to make one!!!! We already know the majority of the bits and bobs we want, as well as the overall look. We are 100% certain on buying lots of stylish pieces of furniture for the rooms, offered by companies like wayside furniture house .. but we won’t reveal just yet! ALSO we’ll show you a sneak peek into the custom-designed kitchen plans we just got back!!!
