Today’s blog isn’t anything overly special in regards to my upcoming Vow Renewal, but it is something I am so excited about!
My first wedding “dress” hung ever so sadly from a bent Dry Cleaners hanger where the “Have a Happy Day” was ripped in two. Needless to say, there ARE ZERO photos of my dress before it was worn.
This time around, I had a lovely bride of mine buy me this lovely gold sequin hanger below….and there will sooooo be dress pictures happening on it. If you are interested in getting your own, simply click right on the picture and it will take you to Pearls and Pastries right on Etsy.
Now, before she bought me this hanger that I am obsessed with, I have shot bride after bride that has a hanger with their new last name, their wedding date, etc twisted into the frame….so of course…I bought one of those too that says, “Mrs. Hebert”. Simple and sweet and something I will hold on to for forever and hopefully pass down to my future daughter in law one day. (Yes, I am sentimental like that! : P)
Here is where I got my “last name” hanger, again feel free to click right on the image to be taken to SaraAllen’s Store front on Etsy.
So now that I have my gorgeous hangers…I was playing around with the idea of getting a FORM for my dress. I am not quite sure it will work within the space I am getting ready…but if it does, I definitely want one on standby. It is also my dream that once our master suite addition is added on and I have a “Carrie Bradshaw” closet like the plans dictate I will…I would like the form to hold the dress/necklace/nick nacks I wore on this day and sit ever so nicely in the corner : ) Its not a LARGE dress…but it is one that while on a form…would serve as a gorgeous statement piece in my VERY large walk in closet. I can just see it now….me standing at the “shoe island” in the middle of the walk in and my dress on the form in the corner. TEARS!
I think all brides out there are saddened by the fact that they spend over a year tailoring a dress to their bodies and big days….only to wear it for ONE day and then back into the garment bag it goes. I want mine to be on display so I can ALWAYS look at it and remember this day….all that it was…and all that it stood for. (I also may try it on and dance around in it while cleaning in an empty house : P) This one below I found on amazon for a size 6-8 gown for 45.00. AMAZING RIGHT!?!?
So if you have a dress that is deserving of the royal treatment….spend the 50.00 and get a form…then keep that form set up with your gown after you dry clean it. Put it in your room….guest room….wherever….just because the day ended….that doesn’t mean your dress has to be stashed away in the shadows : P
