Much like the Maternity shoot I recently shared, I was in between classes. While waiting for the next to commence, I ran into The Photography Smiths (From last Fridays feature), and followed them down to a sunset senior shoot. I HAD NO IDEA what I was getting myself into. I had NEVER ever shot a senior and truthfully had no desire or inention to. But I got down to the beach, approached a girl surrounded by a sea of cameras. A reflector was being held so I couldn’t see her face. As the reflector was lowered I was slightly knocked off my feet into the sand….THIS GIRL IS A SENIOR!?!?!?!? IMPOSSIBLE!
Much to my surprise….after modeling and favoring each of our cameras giving us all a head on shot, this INSANELY SWEET AND GORGEOUS GIRL named Camille turns around. I was so floored by her beauty my first couple shots came out pure white as I shot into the sun. I through on the 85 1.2 (my most fave lens of all), took a deep breath, and shot the session like “senior photography” was my niche. Embracing new sessions, new lessons, new tricks of the trade…they were all my mottos for the trip. Yet again, a realm of photography I had no interest in left me leaving wanting more and anticipating my next senior session. Will I ever be a specialist in senior photography, PROBABLY not! But am I glad I was able to part of this experience, practice shooting into the sun, and meeting such a beautiful girl inside and out…YES….ALWAYS! Here are a few I shot….Thank you Phillip Van Nostrand for an awesome class. It was so great to meet you. And Camille….YOU WERE FANTASTIC. I so hope to meet and work with you again soon!
