When I ask my husband, “What are you most excited for in regards to planning again,” I first get a long blank stare, a lift of one bushy brown eyebrow, a gulp in his throat, and then I get this answer, “I dunno…anything with food or beer involved sounds like a good time to me.” Now….the romantic in me wants to report that he had said, “Remarrying you is the only thing I care about love…” Lol…but he is a man…so thats just fantasy talking.
My husband is absolutely a sweetheart in MANY, MANY ways…but he is more of a “doer” than a “vocalizer”. Meaning…though he may not be jumping for joy about planning (because really…what man ever is) I know he is excited to see me so excited. I know he loves me and loves our family…and anything to make us love more, grow stronger as a family, etc…he is game for. In all…he is a GOOD, FIERCELY LOVING MAN!
So after some time of me behind the scenes getting details, cleaning out the shelves of all things rustic from TJMAXX and having weekly deliveries from Etsy, he comes up to me and says…. so when do we get to do a cake tasting again? And in regards to the food we are serving….do we get to try that, too? Clearly the way to his heart is food! lol
Before going into a tasting, here is the menu we were sent for ‘Our Big Day’ TAKE TWO
Anti pasta Display (Marinated artichokes, roasted peppers, Italian meats, cheeses and olives)
Fresh Seasonal Vegetable Crudités Display (Served with cheese and southern dipping sauce)

Fresh tomato, basil, garlic southern spices served with Crostini bread.
Honey Mango Pork Sliders
Slow roasted ultra tender mango & honey-marinated pork served on fresh Baked mini potato bread.
Crab & Artichoke Spinach Dip (Served with baked garlic Crostini bread)
Assorted Tea Sandwiches
Delicious thinly sliced breads with your choice of 3 of the following: (Tuna, Chicken, Crab, Ham, or Egg Spreads)
Goat Cheese Tureen (Served on Crostini layers)
Homemade Smoked Salmon Display
Homemade Smoked Duck Breast (Served with southern raspberry Cabernet sauce)
Goat Cheese Basil Pesto Tureen (Served on Crostini layers with roasted peppers, basil pesto, and olive tapenade)
Seared Tuna (Served with pickled ginger, wasabi and dipping sauce)
Baked Berry Brie (Baked with fresh berries and raspberry Cabernet sauce)

SOUNDS YUMMY RIGHT?!!? Now we just need to pick what we want to serve. We both decided that we wanted every dish we serve be able to eat while on a app plate and can be carried around. What we DO NOT want is for people to have place settings, be sitting down, etc. We want more of a long buffet that stays out all night so people can eat as they wish…but the primary goal is to have EVERYONE up and dancing and celebrating!!!
As far as the cake goes, we are still tossing around options for that….but I am a chocolate fan and he is vanilla with buttercream…looks like 2 layers will be wildly different this go around! : P I plan to take pictures when we go to both, so stay tuned here and most certainly on my INSTAGRAM.
