As we speak right now…I am already on my way to Jamaica….or possibly have even landed by now. EEEEK! I am sooooo not a good flyer yall…but yet I love it. I know…makes no sense. Though..I am no where near Kristen Wiig’s overly anxious flying syndrome…I still have me some flying issues! Ok, let me try to explain…my ears….though not Dumbo sized….they POP at a Dumbo Sized level…that is unless I am furiously chewing gum like my entire mouth was locked in over drive. I try not to do this too loudly or noticeably in fear of scarring my seat mates….lol. Then within moments after take off the dizziness sets in, I am totally afraid of the potty, and I throw a temper tantrum when I am not the window seat on the way there and the aisle seat on the way back. One day I will be able to explain that logic to someone. I cant even get it across to my poor husband who is already ready to commit me to some mental ward for my crazy ways. God bless him for trying though! Hehehe
Ok so today is a big day y’all….its Dreams Come True and Goal Accomplished Day.
I am off to shoot my very first TROPICAL Destination Wedding! When I became a professional wedding photographer, I was encouraged to write down my goals I wanted to accomplish in 1 years time, 2 years, then 5 years and finally 10 years. After writing our list of goals, we we were encouraged to make a list of BIG DREAMS. Dreams that at that point…felt completely unreachable…more like a fantasy. On that list and on my ‘within 5 years goals list’ was “Shoot a destination wedding OUT OF THE COUNTRY or somewhere tropical”. AHHHHH… RIGHT NOW I AM ACCOMPLISHING BOTH OF THOSE AT ONCE AND ALSO ACHIEVING MY 5 YEAR GOAL!
It is such an amazing accomplishment for me and my business and one that will surely be celebrated during my OFF days in Ochos Rio, Jamaica.
Can’t wait to shoot at this epic waterfall! : P
My beautiful bride Joanna and her adorbs hubby to be Jim decided they wanted a destination wedding and just under a year ago contacted ME to shoot it. Trying to suppress my inner little girl from screaming and my insane desire to start cartwheeling in the middle of the consult was NOT easy. Over this time, I have become very good friends with Joanna and Jim. There are two of the most fun, genuine, easy going people you will ever meet. They love each other so deeply…but outwards appear to just be the best of friends. To me…those are all the components and makings of a fabulous marriage.
When we land, we get to go meet with the coordinator for the first time, see where the ceremony will be held on the beach, see the bridal and grooms suites, and finally the reception location. With a few days to relax and settle in, the wedding, set for February 2, 2013, I will be sure to take moments to document this entire adventure. I hope the following days will be filled with endless shoots and plenty of time for landscape shooting. I promised myself I will FORCE my brain to shut off “work” mode for at least 2 days and enjoy where I am…but truthfully in a location like this…all I can think about is shooting…not that its every really work.
So….while I am away, I will be accomplishing my goals, living my dreams, sun bathing, dreaming up new dreams, and shooting a beautiful wedding. What more could I ask for?
Dream BIG and write down those goals…thats the only way to hold them and yourselves accountable! : P
Bon Voyage!!
