I think I have delayed writing up the blog for this wedding for a multitude of reasons. The main one being: Every time I think of this couple…this wedding, my eyes fill with tears. Mind you, the tears are both happy and sad….but after 2 years, I couldn’t put it off any longer.

Genny and Wil had a love story unlike most. There was a level of devotion, respect and love I have not witnessed in my lifetime before meeting them. They were truly a powerhouse couple that has been through and CAN GET through anything that came their way.

Although Genny was diagnosed with cancer and eventually lost her battle this past year, CANCER NEVER HAD GENNY! Her family, friends and fiancé Wil stood by her side and they FOUGHT through each day, each moment. With numerous trips back and forth to Duke where she was being treated, Genny NEVER was seen without a smile. Her posts were a source of daily inspiration not only to her friends and loves ones, but to me. I was SO HONORED and blessed to think that I was going to be the one graced with the ability to capture a once in a life time kind of love story. Genny was the most perfect #KNPBRIDE. She was radiant and spirited in all that she does and all the lives she has touched with her journey. Wil has been nothing short of amazing. A rock. A true blue man, friend and husband to Genny.

June 7, 2014! Wedding day came before we knew it. I arrived to the Avalon Beach House where Genny and her girls were prepping. I walked in and there she was…SMILING. The sun was shinning, puffy white clouds adorned the sky…and that smile of hers lit up the darkest of rooms. Their day was PACKED with a million different emotions. There were points in time where there was not A SINGLE dry eye in attendance (INCLUDING MYSELF!!!). Witnessing that much love…that unconditional, selfless, captivating kind of love, was just an experience I will never forget.

As the reception continued, there was a HUGE surprise in store for Genny. In the months leading up to her wedding Genny made a wish….a wish to have JOHN LEGEND come to her wedding. It was a big wish. Genny even created a website and letters to John hoping to capture his attention. By wedding day, there wasn’t any word back as to whether John heard her plea….well….at least thats what she thought….JUST YOU WAIT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED NEXT!

To my dear friend Genny, I miss you. Today and everyday. These images will always make me smile and know that Heaven gained the most amazing angel. Wil, you are an amazing man and friend. God bless you and all the family, friends and those blessed enough to KNOW Genny in this lifetime!

     Genny and Wil sat down to watch what they thought was a slideshow of their love story, but what was about to happen would bring the ENTIRE room to tears. Genny had been BEGGING John Legend to perform at her wedding alongside of her friends and family. Though she was not given a response when she asked, her family ensured at least a part of her dream would come true. John Legend came through in an amazing way and MADE GENNY’S DAY an unforgettable one. Just watch what happened:
