April 1, 2013 she went for a run. A 5 mile run. Then, a hair appointment. And then, a moment of impact! Genny went totally numb on the right hand side of her body. She was immediately rushed to Cape Regional Hospital where she was instantly admitted. The next day, following an MRI, it was reported that “something” was showing on her brain. Without haste, she was rushed to Jefferson Hospital for emergency brain surgery. And then, another moment of impact.
The doctor told her it was Glioblastoma… grade 4.
Genny visited the best doctors around and concluded that being treated at Duke University in Raleigh, NC was her next move. Radiation, plus chemo for 34 days. And until the end of this month, she plans to continue with both. Genny spoke of how although it was a difficult time in her life…it was the strength, love and support of her family that got her through and keeps her fighting. She told me, “I’m so blessed….they gave my a better perspective on life….they are the best family and friends I could ever ask for!”
Over the past year, I have watched Genny tackle this situation with courage, strength, love, and positivity. She is one of the strongest people I have ever met and I ADORE all of her family and friends who constantly keep me updated on her progress. Seeing her the other day for her final consult….her wedding less than a week away, she was nothing but smiles…excited to marry the man of her dreams….celebrate with her loved ones…AND go into her wedding day knowing all scans are CLEAR! God bless! I can’t wait to capture this amazing day and celebrate love and life with you and your awesome support system!
Here is a look back on your engagement session that is LONG over on being blogged!
