Kaitlin Noel Photography | Cape May Professional Photographer
Annnnd we are back to our regularly scheduled program! hehe
It is with great honor to present one HECK of a photographer and one HECK of a guy, Chad DiBlasio. .Chad has been a true business savior for me on multiple occasions. That lovely new email address and account I have…well….we can all thank Chad for that one. We all know how completely technology impaired I am!!! Chad is also one heck of a jokester…when having a bad day..he always makes me smile. He is a wonderful and contributing member in a group of photographers I belong to called Showiteers
With a brand new addition to his family and lots of wonderful things to share…without further ado…I present the fab Chad DiBlasio.
1.Tell us something about your business and how long you have been a professional photographer.
I have been shooting full time for the last 2.5 years but have been shooting as a professional for about 8 years total.
2. What equipment do you use?
I shoot Canon equipment. I have a variety of bodies and lenses but have shot some of my best work on the canon 60d although I use a full frame camera now.
3. Where are you located?
I live just east of Columbus, OH but have shot in a variety of places including Missouri, Virginia, Georgia, Kentucky, and all around Central Ohio!
4. What type of photography do you like to create?
It is my GREATEST desire to bring images that reflect the most amazing memories of my clients lives so they not only remember the day or their decorations, but that they will have that rush of emotion and feel that incredible swell of happiness as they look thru their images with their children or possibly grandkids! I love to have an “artistic flare” so I always look for great colors, a backlit flare or a low perspective with objects being shot past/thru.
5. When did you notice you had a passion for photography?
I have been taking pictures since I was in elementary and took the photography project for my 4-H class. I burned through an INCREDIBLE amount of money in college developing film learning my love and then begged/borrowed and bargained to use digital cameras from my friends since I was still a “starving artist” at that point in my career. I think my trip to Tanzania, Africa solidified my love for the craft but also gave me a great deal of confidence that I took pictures other people wanted to see. I noticed how much emotion the photos evoked even without the stories to go with them and that spoke to me in a way I hadn’t felt before. I was hooked! 🙂
6. Most awkward moment during an event?
I can’t seem to think of anything that stands out… I am rarely embarrassed and pretty easy go with the flow so it’s hard for me to think of an embarrassing moment… although I usually end up dirty from my shoots from rolling around or trying to get a particular shot and it usually leaves me with a wet butt or knees!
7. What is the scariest thing that ever happened during a photo shoot?
There have been a few shoots that I have accidentally dropped a piece of gear and only in the past year and a half have gotten my gear insured so those were definitely breath taking moments!
8. Best advice you have been given in your photography career?
I have been given SOO much advice that has changed my life and business approach but the one thing I could think of that has influenced me the most is advice I received from my H.S. art teacher Mr. Hules: He would always come up to a piece I was working on that I was POSITIVE I had ruined and he would tell me to use my “artistic license” to make it something different. It wasn’t always what I had “intended” when I started, but it was always the art that I loved and that advice has found its way into every part of my life and business. Plans are necessary in this business, but rolling with life and the things that happen along the way and trying to figure out a way to make THOSE moments into beautiful art is my greatest challenge and largest source of joy!
9. Best advice that you could give someone else that is pursuing a photography career?
I may have accidentally answered this in the previous question b/c I had a passionate moment! LOL BUT, there is nothing (and I truly mean NOTHING) that can’t be learned or figured out. Passion will take you further than “talent” ever will!
10. Best moment of your photography career?
I was recently chosen to be part of the studio audience to go on Creative Live to meet Sue Bryce and Hailey Bartholomew and learn directly from them. I have never felt more honored in my photography (or more in over my head!!) but it’s truly a JOY to me EVERY TIME I get to watch my clients see their pictures as they sit on the couch in my office and cry as they remember the day they loved so much! I know it sounds cheesy, but I truly do LOVE it and it makes me feel alive and honored like few things have!!
Thank you so much Chad for sharing all of that with me and my fans/followers. Its always great to be so inspired and encouraged by others that have a similair interest and passion in the same things. I am so totally jealous about your experience on CreativeLive and hope to read all about it on your blog soon. We appreciate your time and wish you the best of luck in 2013!
