Pretend the balloons are filled. The cake, smothered in fondant and in colorful icing. Candles are in place. Friends are gathered around the table. Candles are lit. The birthday boy takes a deep breath, and hopes…. for the sake of his wish coming true, that all the candles go out when he lets out that one puff of air. The song begins–
“Happy birthday to you….Happy birthday too you, Happy Birthday dear Mike,
Happy Birthday to you!!! (la, la, la)”
Though I wasn’t invited to the big party. Though I wont be there to see the candles being blown out.Thought I won’t be there to sing that lovely song…. (no, not bitter at all—HAHA TOTALLY KIDDING)
I would still like to wish my friend, my lighting guru, my second (aka equal, better, fantastic, talented) shooter, a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I hope that all your wishes come true today and that you have a very relaxing day. You deserve it. Thank you for spending so much time making me better everyday. Thank you for shooting with me and helping to make my clients so truly happy. Thank you for challenging me and pushing me to try new things. But most of all, thanks for being a friend! Here is to an awesome wedding season and many more dual shooting events together!

P.S. I told you I hate hallmark cards…and I didn’t want to torture you with my handmade inability to draw…so I figured a blog post would suffice? hahaha
