I have a tumor.

In my face!

Well, its in my sinus cavity to be exact. I went in to the glendora dentist with really bad tooth aches on my upper left hand side. I was warned that after my last sinus infection, that it could make for sore gums and “throbbing” teeth. So, to be sure it was just that, and not a cavity, I went in. This one visit led to a series of X-rays and appointments and I was notified that even though 3 of my wisdom teeth have been removed, one remained. It is JUST UNDER my eye, root side up (facing my eyeball) and trapped there by the tumor.

(See on the left side of the screen its all black in my cheek? THATS NORMAL….CLEAR SINUS. On the right side of the screen, see that white mass….and how the teeth on the top don’t have any roots showing because the mass of the tumor is pressing on them? And then look up by my eye….THATS MY TOOTH! And that white cloudy stuff…my tumor! : ( I am a hot mess!)

Now here is the scary part: The more inflamed the tumor/sinus cavity grows, the more pressure is placed on my teeth in the top left row AND the more pressure on my eye. IF, I were to get hit….fall….sneeze…do anything wrong, the wisdom tooth behind the tumor could move up and PUNCTURE my eye! It could even push out the entire back row of teeth! AHHHHHH!

As of right now the tumor is believed to be benign. THANK GOD! They did say that nothing can be confirmed until the biopsy immediately following surgery. So….this Thursday, at 8:00am, I will go in for my 2 hour emergency surgery, and hopefully come out tumor and wisdom tooth FREE!

They said its a “simple” incission in my gums, poking through a fragile bone, SCRAPPING out the tumor with this spork looking tool, and sucking out the tooth from the cavity.

“Simple” they say!

My doctor is one of the best and told me its not an option….it HAS to come out. I have full faith in him, but my worry wort self is not GREAT at relinquishing control. And since I will be knocked out….I can control or see a thing! Its like a crazy “trust fall” exercise from hell! I envy those who don’t have this problem and have dental implants. I can only imagine how easy your dentistry is…

So, from Thursday to Sunday, he said I will not be in the “best” shape. Sleeping, drinking/eating through straws (yay liquid diet = pounds lost out of this), and sore (as in, black eye, puffy face, etc). SO PLEASEEEEEE bear with me until the start of next week. I will do my best with emails and Facebook responses….but please don’t think I am ignoring you!

I want to heal perfectly and quickly, so following doctors orders are key. I love and appreciate all of you and would never turn away some extra prayers this week!

Now everyone….go eat the most crunchy/hard food you can in my honor now through Wednesday…..I will be doing the same! : P

xoxo,
