It was just like any other day. I arrived early for a family session down at my favorite little spot in Wildwood Crest. Next to me, a car with Chicago plates pulled in. Decked out in white polos and khakis bottoms, I immediately realized that this family was preparing to have their photos taken. I glanced the sidewalk and park for a photographer, maybe a local photographer I may have known. I waited, and no one came.
Just then, the mom in white went to open her trunk and pulled out a tripod and camera bag. Still no other party in sight.
Was she going to set up a tripod to take her own family portraits!?!?! Oh no, this just wont do!!!!
Again, I glanced around for my clients and they werel still not there. So, with 5 swift steps I caught up to the polo wearing family….I introduced myself, I told them what I did for a living and what I wanted to do FOR them:
“Hello. My name is Kaitlin and I am a professional photographer here in the Crest. My clients are not here yet and it looks as though you are trying to take a beach family portrait.”
Uneasily they responded, “Yes, yes we are.”
In response I said, “If you wouldnt mind, I would love to take a few for you until my clients arrive and then send them to you via PASS so you can instantly download and use them right away.”
Her look was nothing short of BAFFLED! “You are just going to GIVE THEM to us? For FREE? To have???
It was as if no one has ever offered to be so kind for no reason at all.
A smile and a nod from me confirmed her question. She was delighted. And I….I was so blessed to be in the right spot at the right time to be able to serve them in this way!
So here we have it…the incredibly grateful and sweet Cinzio Family. Safe travels back to Chicago and please visit our shores again soon!
Remember, serving others…for no reason at all….it is not only a great gift for others….its food for your OWN soul! Giving back is one of my most favorite things about this “job”….I surely hope you can find ways to give back in yours. : )
