BOUQUETS ARE THE BEST! They are often the detail that ties all of the colors and themes together. It compliments the dress, the venue, the entire VIBE of the wedding day.
There are some brides that immediately know the name of every precious flower that will be a part of their bridal bouquets, but other brides hand over a color palet and trust their florists. But here is what you need to know about your wedding bouquet building process that may or may not impact your decisions about what you REALLY want in your bouquet.
Building a Wedding Bouquet: (Decisions that will need to be made)
1. Colors (consider wedding colors and colors of the season in which you are getting married)
2. Textures
3. Smell/Fragrance of Flower
4. Long Lasting Ability
5. Bigger in size than the BMs Bouquets
6. Cost (Budgets are important and bouquets are expensive)
7. Weight of flowers
8. Decorations added to flowers (pearls, crystals, burlap, feathers, etc)
9. Fake or Real (Broach Bouquets are big as well)
10. Upright bouquet or lay flat (Hold like a traditional bouquet or lays in your arms like a baby)
Bouquets to me are much like snowflakes to me. No ONE bouquet is the same. Each unique to the bride, the day, the dress, everything!
As some advice from a professional in the wedding industry, do NOT be afraid to TELL your florist exactly what you want. What you like. What you dont. NEVER settle on a bouquet that is just “pretty” and in your “price range.” Yes, budgets are so very important, but consider possibly making the bridesmaids bouquets smaller or a similar but cheaper flower….carnations, babies breath, baby roses are all great alternatives.
For your toss bouquet, make it small as well. Cheaper flowers. MAYBE even pick up a few stems from Trader Joes and make your own little toss bouquet. Toss bouquets can be nearly 30-50 that you can spend on some special etching on those champagne glasses instead.
Last Tips:
— BE CREATIVE….No one said you had to have all the bouquets match. Much like bridesmaids dresses now being different shades, textures, lengths, think maybe the same for bouquets. It will also allow your bridesmaids to get a little more personalized as well.
— BE PERSONAL…Dont be afraid to add photo bouquet charms, broaches from loved ones that have passed, etc. This bouquet is walking you DOWN the aisle and will be in your most treasured of photographs next to the photos of your children to come. I promise you that.
–NEVER SETTLE OR LET ANYONE ELSE DECIDE–You have the final say! This is your once in a life time wedding day! EMBRACE, ENJOY AND OWN IT!
