Its yucky out! Simply dismal. Its a day for fluffy headed slippers, yoga pants and a hot beverage in my hands all day at “work”.
The last day it was like this, probably about two weeks ago, I was stuck in the office all day with paper work and album designs. My kids were in the other room building forts, watching movies and turning their popcorn into a confetti. (That was fun to clean up!) I was so sad I couldn’t join in the fun. I literalllly couldn’t take being trapped anymore and had to brave the rain and grab some some fresh air. I drove to Starbucks and was SO BEYOND EXCITED to grab a hot cup of pure happiness and head home refreshed to tackle the rest of the work day as quick as possible so I could spend some time with my fort builders. After 15 minutes of driving, 10 minutes of a line, I approach the line and what do I find? NO WALLET IN MY PURSE! I was ruffling through my bag as if I was told there was a million dollar check hiding at the bottom of it and I could keep it if I found it in 5 seconds or less! NOTHING! No wallet, no million dollar check. The gentleman behind me saw my face and I am sure gathered what was going on. He had a coupon for a free drink in his hand and without even so much as a hesitation, HE HANDED IT TO ME! He said…I get a free drink for my birthday. I want you to have it.
ON HIS BIRTHDAY HE WAS GIVING ME A PRESENT? TO A STRANGER? IN YOGA PANTS?
I insisted I couldn’t and he insisted I must. He handed me the coupon and I handed the barista the coupon with shaky hands and tearful eyes. That man MADE MY WEEK! He took by overbearing day and made it a true delight. He made me cry, smile, and full of appreciation and motivation to do the same for another one day.
I know you have read stories on here about my Starbucks experiences…me paying it forward, the person in front of me buying me a drink (even if I had my wallet that day)…but Starbucks really is a ONE OF A KIND place to me.
And on this day…I was floored by his selflessness and knew he was placed there that day to tell me to “smile, breathe, everything will be ok.” I got home from Starbucks, holding my coffee like it was a cup of gold. I told my husband about this kind mans gesture and he was truly touched. I never DID wind up going back into my office that day. I spent the day playing pirates, built block forts, and didnt huff an puff an ounce as I picked up popcorn off of every surface in my house.
Todays Mission: SPREAD THE LOVE!
I am headed to Starbucks for a consult and I plan to make someones day a little brighter…let them know that its ok to “smile, breathe and that everything will be ok!”.
Will you go on this mission with me today?
xoxo,
Kaitlin Noel
