So this past year there has been a LOT happening on the KNP page. After receiving countless messages and emails weekly asking for advice, guidance, tips and tricks of the trade so to speak….I knew the next giveaway I wanted to host: A Mentoring/Coaching Session! The idea of me teaching is both a scary and funny one. Most of you know I am a total nut case…and complete blooper. My clients know I am a spastic shooter, totally everywhere at once, and have been known to make some awful “children attention grabbing noises.” lol

Needless to say, when I posted that I would be giving away two spots for FREE to two very deserving aspiring photographers, I instantly gulped. My heart beat grew faster. Palms got sweaty. And my throat, dry as sandpaper. I was so nervous and sooo excited. I wanted to be able to come up with a lesson plan, talking points, and be 100% sure I would have time to try to teach 4 years of knowledge in 4 hours. PHEW!

Though we did talk the afternoon away and left verrrry little time…im talking…sun almost entirely down kinda time….for professional head shots…I am glad we got to get a few. I told Aimee and Brittany to come back in the spring…when its warmer and the days are longer…and we would take some REAL professional head shots for them and their growing businesses.

We talked about so many wonderful things, I can see how we lost track of time. I wish I could spill all my secrets about what I had them bring, what I had them do, and what we talked about…but I dont want that to take away from a possible mentoring session WE may have together in the future. Both of these girls are really going places. Their focus is primarily families and babies…which is awesome. It is exactly how I started. It was so great to be able to tell them, “I’ve been there…shoot…I am still there! I am a work in progress everyday…always learning.” As photographers, we are in an industry that allows us the luxury to learn something new constantly. Whether or not we may take what we learn and apply it to our own businesses, gaining perspective and seeing how others do things sometimes is the best inspiration of all. I hope these two learned a lot and had fun. I can not wait to see the improvements and changes they make to their own business. I hope they choose to pass on what they have learned, pay it forward if you will.

Lord knows I didn’t get here alone. In fact, I have had a lot of help along the way and I will never be too prideful to admit that. I am just so excited because I felt their passion. I saw it in their eyes. These two will go far and I hope they dont forget about me when they make it to the big leagues! : P hehehehe
